Abstract
Idioms are widely used on screen, with a wide range of use from lively entertainment movies to serious medical ones. People hear different idioms in certain situations such as a bakery, a bookstore, or a game, as every industry has its own jargon. This paper mainly analyzes idioms and the functions by dialogues in movies. The following three aspects are mainly studied: the function of idiom, characteristics of idioms in film and television programs, and analysis of the multivariate characteristics of English idioms.
