Abstract
Primary school students are in the stage of development and growth. They are curious about the outside world. They want to know the world, discover the unknown and explore the beauty of the world through more extracurricular activities and practical opportunities. With more and more primary school students' learning tasks, many schools do not pay attention to primary school students' extracurricular activities. Extracurricular activities are opportunities for pupils to develop their abilities and improve their comprehensive practical abilities. They play an important role as classroom activities. This paper discusses the function and significance of extracurricular activities in primary schools. First of all, it introduces the concept of extracurricular activities, the connotation, content and characteristics of extracurricular activities. Secondly, it shows the function and significance of extracurricular activities in primary schools. Then, combined with the current development of extracurricular activities in primary schools in China, we analyze and discuss them, and find problems. Finally, we should actively carry out extracurricular activities in primary schools, give full play to their role and significance, and put forward targeted suggestions and measures to strengthen primary school students' participation in extracurricular activities。
