Abstract
English is the most widely spoken language in the world today, while Chinese is the language with the largest number of speakers. They belong to the Indo-European language family and the Sino-Tibetan language family respectively, which have different historical development trajectories and different writing systems. The two languages are the important representatives of eastern and Western cultures respectively.
A comparative study of the two is helpful to understand the essential features of language and reveal the deep structure of eastern and Western cultures. The study of sexism in English and Chinese is conducive to mutual respect and friendly coexistence between the two sexes and to the construction of a harmonious language environment and social living environment.
