Abstract
Peter Pan is James Matthew Barry's most famous work published in 1911. Nowadays, this story is still popular all over the world. Under the guidance of the Manipulation Theory, this study compares and analyzes the translations of Peter Pan from Liang Shiqiu and Ren Rongrong. Chapter 1 briefly introduces the background of this study. Chapter 2 briefly summarizes the research status both here and abroad. Chapter 3 briefly introduces the framework of this paper. Chapter 4 briefly introduces the manipulation theory and analyzes the background information of two kinds of translation. Chapter 5 makes a comparative analysis of ideology, poetics and patron manipulation in the translation process. The last chapter makes a summary and points out the research direction in the future. Through this study, the author verifies the applicability of Manipulation Theory in the translation. Moreover, this study is pointing out the direction for the translation work in the future.
