Abstract
The pupils begin to have English classes in grade three in primaryschool。 but the kids begin to contact English even in the kindergarten in some developed areas, many teachers ask students to recite words and sentences and do a lot of writing practice.as a result the pupils can not make full use of English culture. But as we know language and culture are interdependent.the language is a cultural carrier, and culture is the content of the language.the certain language takes a certain culture as the soul, and a certain culture is based on a certain linguistic structure which should improve the sensitivity and adaptability to the cultural differences between Chinese and Western cultures. So the teachers should establish cultural awareness and pay attention to the teaching of cultural knowledge.English plays an important role in our life. So pupils learn English as a second language. The pupils pay more attention to listening , reading and writing in traditional English teaching .it leads to many students get good marks in English exams .so many pupils are bad at communicating with foreigners..if they understand English culture very well , they will comuunicate with foreigners fluently. It is necessary to learn about English culture .if pupils only know about some English wordsand sentences, they have little about English culture,they may play a joke with foreigners .if pupils have fully known English knowledge.they may become confident .It can improve pupils’ speaking ability . so pupils are becoming more interested in English learning .But how can they learn English culture well has become problems of concern , many English teachers find it is an essential factor to know about culture background . Because English has closely associated with cuuture background. there is no doubt that language is a signifisant and vital part of a given culture , different languages may reflect different cultures , different cultures include different language pxpressions. So language and culture backgound has closely associated and depended on each other, therefore they keep close ties with each other.
