THE INFLUENCE OF TAOISM ON CHARACTERIZATION OF FEMALE HEROINES IN MOMENT IN PEKING
摘 要
《京华烟云》是林语堂先生向西方介绍东方文化的巨著，从多方面体现了中国的传统文化和思想。本文从道家思想的视角来探讨小说《京华烟云》中女性人物的塑造。首先，本文介绍了《京华烟云》的时代影响性，介绍道家思想的特点；其次，对具有代表性的女性角色，如木兰、莫愁和曼娘进行深入分析，揭示道家思想对其性格、思维方式、婚姻命运的影响，并对小说创作的历史背景进行阐述来体现特殊历史条件下的女性思想、性格等；最后，从总体上来阐述《京华烟云》中体现的道家哲学。

ABSTRACT
Moment in Peking is a wonderful work of LinYutang to introduce the eastern culture to the west. It embodies many aspects of Chinese traditional culture and traditional thoughts. This article expresses how Taoism influences female characters in this novel from their way of thinking and characters. First, it introduces the great impact of Moment in Peking to the age, and elicit the main idea in the novel – Taoism; then from the specific analysis of the roles, the article selects representative of female heroines, Mulan, Mochow and Mannia to show how Taoism influences their personality, way of thinking, the fate and the impact of marriage; and it also shows its historical background on the creation, in particular the special historical conditions of women’s way of thinking; Finally, it is a statement of the philosophy of Taoism in Moment in Peking overall.
