Explorations into the Etiquette Differences between the Chinese and the Westerners
Abstract: Etiquette is the outward manifestation of self-cultivation and inner quality. This paper first explores the definitions of etiquette. It then expatiates etiquette differences between the Chinese and the westerners: differences in eating and table manners, differences in address, differences in greetings and historical roots on etiquette differences. It finally discusses cultural crashes caused by different etiquettes. The author thinks learning etiquette will not only consolidate foreign language teaching and the consciousness of training the Chinese and the westerners culture differences but it will be also of significant realistic and practical value.
