Social structure have a coercive power over individuals.’Do you agree?use the structure and agency debate to answer the question
ABSTRACT
As is said by Emile Durkheim, social structures exist independently of the individual and these social facts already exist when the individuals are born.in another word, these facts have a coercive power over the individuals. Based on this viewpoint and the other socialists’ theories about the agency, this paper gives a deep discussion about this thesis through analyzing the the structure and agency respectively, and cobining with the structure and agency debate, finally gets the answers. Key words: social structure; coercive power; agency; structuralism
