Abstract
The idiom is a language and after long-term use of fixed phrases or short sentences. In this paper, the English idioms and the apparatus is just in its broad sense, including saying (colloquialisms), proverbs, mottoes, slang expressions and allusions. English and Chinese are two highly development of language, and therefore have a large number of idioms, these idioms are the important rhetoric means in language, which have a distinctive image and appropriate metaphor,idiom also contains a rich cultural information. Due to the differences in geography, history, religion,customs and so on, English and Chinese idioms carry the different national characteristics and cultural information of the two different cultures. Therefore the translation of idioms not only to translate the image of the original idiom, rhetorical methods, but also to translate its national characteristics and local characteristics, and fully focus on its cultural differences. This paper discusses the cultural differences between English and Chinese idioms, put forward the basic strategy of the translation of idioms, and to explore in idiom translation "dubious" phenomenon.
