Abstract
Despite the passion of the Brazilian Olympic Games, the French European Cup has ended for more than two months.To follow the trend of sporting events to travel is being set off, sports tourism is also considered the next industry outlet.
According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization data, the growth of sports tourism is 14% per year and it is a important segment of the global tourism market. Prospective Industry Research Institute data also shows that the actual investment of China in sports tourism in 2015 is 79.1 billion yuan, an increase of 71.9% over last year. This paper briefly introduces the development of sports tourism and compares the development of sports tourism between China and the West. It also analyzes the causes of the difference and provides some suggestions for domestic sports tourism. The author believes that sports tourism should not place too much emphasis on the professionalism of sports and restrict the sports tourism; more reference should be given to other countries so as to promote the diversification of sports tourism.
