Abstract
Almost everybody knows that people can communicate with each other through not only verbal communication but also nonverbal communication. In some occasions, nonverbal communication is even more important than verbal communication. It’s also true in English teaching of primary school. With the continual innovation and development of English teaching, Educationists pay more and more attention to the function of body language in English teaching. Actually, body language is critically important role in English teaching. It can help to enrich English teaching approaches, arouse the students’ interest, shorten the gap between teachers and students, enhance the English teaching effect, and create a more harmonious learning atmosphere in the process of teaching. So how to exert the important functions of body language is main challenge for contemporary English teaching. The thesis will focus on discussing the measures of exerting body language in English teaching. An excellent teacher can make full use of body language and combine it with the verbal language to optimize the teaching efficiency, and describe the abstract knowledge through proper, vivid, dramatic movement. This is a most efficient way to make students learning easily and willingly.
