Abstract
Language and culture are inseparable. Language is an important part of culture, it is one of the most iconic symbol, and in the meantime, the most important carriers of its culture, and the culture is the deposit of its language. The both have a great impact on each other, and the impact cannot be ignored during the study of this language. This impact greatly influences communication, especially effective intercultural communications. Acknowledging the cultural background of a certain foreign language can help the non-native speakers to communicate with its native speakers, otherwise, it may cause numerous communicative barriers and difficulties. Briefly, it is the intercultural awareness, it reflects how deeply a foreign language learner understands the cultural background of the foreign language, and whether the learner can react in mind just like a native speaker. Foreign language speakers who have intercultural awareness, can implement the language they master with considerable effectiveness and preciseness.
The intention of this paper is to explain how culture can have an impact on English study, especially on oral English study, why it is highly important to study the cultural background of English, and how can we enhance the cultural study along the linguistic study of English.
