Abstract
‘Jane Eyre’s the representative of the British critical realism writer Charlotte Bronte in nineteenth Century. It has successfully created a new type of small bourgeois women Jane Eyre’s vivid image, focus on her struggle for women’s economic independence and love equality. This article mainly analyzes the characteristics of Jane Eyre from the aspects of psychology, language, thought and behavior.
There is no doubt that Jane Eyre was recognized as one of most successful female image in the literary history of the world. For thousands of years, women’s mind has been locked in the domination of obedience and cage, while Jane Eyre as a thought enlightenment mentor, set of a though revolution to free the women’s spirit shackles with her own wisdom and charisma.
Jane Eyre as a world famous literature, which brought huge influence in the last hundred years enduring; there are many academic comments with fully passion for it, also many papers about Jane Eyre. It definitely impacts not only that era, but also modern society. In order to finish my thesis, I also collected and looked up some literature reference, like: “Charlotte beautiful lonely love”, “dare to struggle for the defense of women’s dignity
“Charlotte beautiful lonely love”, in this article Yang Jianmin (2006) tells the author of “Jane Eyre” Charlotte Bronte’s story, As we known, "Jane Eyre" is an autobiographical novel, so this novel came from Charlotte and recognized the traces of their lives. Conversely, we can image deeper insight into the literature of Jane Eyre from the Charlotte’s story. “Dare to struggle to safeguard the dignity of women new female Jane Eyre”, Du Jun (2004) Described it is a profoundly expounded the self-esteem, the courage to resist the new image of women:
1) Fight for equality and freedom
2) Struggle for the right of life and personal independence
3) Challenge the unfair, despised hypocrisy of high society.
That is a big breakthrough in the Victorian male supremacy era. “Jane Eyre independent connotation”, in this article, Wang Xinchun (2001) , who clarified the conscious of self-love, and the strong independence sense of Jane Eyre by using lot’s of specific cases profoundly .Another author ,Yanyan (2004) also used the same langue described the character, in novel “personality equality and property equilibrium”, Jane refused to accept Mr. Rochester luxurious clothing and gave up the “unequal” marriage reluctantly. These things show the character of Jane Eyre who are keen to pursue equality and property in separate image. There is a book, which describes Jane’s charisma, “Feminine charisma” Yang Beilin(1999) described several features of Jane: the pursue of spiritual freedom and equality, the feelings of dedication, the courage to pursue the true love, intelligent extraordinary. From these character traits, we can see Jane’s charisma.
As a young female and student who keen to fight for a better life and to set a correct attitude, I want to know more about Jane Eyre, that’s why I chose Analyses of Jane Eyre’s character as the direction of my final report. In the Victorian era male supremacy, Jane act ahead of female consciousness and fearless spirit of resistance challenge male authority. There is a huge breakthrough for the female characters of Jane Eyre. Unique charisma made her become to the only female role models in that era, what actually build a great benchmark for today's modern women. I strongly believe even in the modem society, Jane’s spirit is still worth learning, still encourage every young female to move ahead, especially her self-esteem and independent consciousness, enrich our heart and create our own values, to be self-respectable, to be independent and to be inner-directed.
