Abstract
In china the English course in the education stage is both instrumental and humanistic.In terms of instrumentality, English course to cultivate students' basic English literacy and develop students' listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. In terms of humanism, students through English course can open eye, rich life experience, development innovation ability. while is deeply rooted in China the traditional method of learning a foreign language, basically is teacher speak, students listen, classroom lack of degree of participation .The final measure of a student's mastery of a language depends on how well he USES it, rather than how much he knows, so it is particularly important for students to participate in the classroom.In this paper, I studied the students' participation in English classroom teaching through questionnaire survey, interview and observation.From the three aspects of behavior, cognition and emotion, we found that students' participation is low, initiative is poor, lack of interest in English learning and anxiety.
