Abstract
Ancient Chinese poetry is the precious heritage and bright pearl of Chinese history and culture. In order to export the excellent culture to foreign countries properly, translation then become important. However, the refinement of poetry words increases the difficulty of poetry translation. Moreover, the existence of cross-cultural differences makes the translation of poetry even more difficult. Poetry translation is a tough problem at home and abroad. This paper mainly analyzes the relationship between poetry translation and cultural compatibility under the cross-cultural background, introduces the three beauties of poetry proposed by Mr. Xu Yuanchong, the considered number one translator of poetry in China, and introduces two translation strategies of poetry translation and their translation effects: Domestication and foreignization.
