Abstract
As an important theory of pragmatics, speech act theory has received more and more attention in recent years. The significance of the speech act theory is that it provides a tool to analyze the speaker's discourse. Proverb translation guided by speech act theory can help translators grasp the speaker's intention more accurately, understand the meaning in the source language and translate it into the target language appropriate. Translation studies constructed based on this theory make translation studies truly open, transforming translation studies .from semantic and syntactic models to semantic and contextual models
The meaning of Speech Act Theory is to analyze the meaning of speech, and this Speech Act is of great significance to the study of the translation of English proverbs , And formed a unique translation application. This article uses the theory of speech act in the translation of English proverbs to expand the practical value and meaning of English proverb translation. Through speech act theory, we can correctly understand the meaning of proverbs and the meaning Behind speech.
