Abstract
English idioms are simple and brilliant phrases which have been refined by people for a long time and are the crystallization of human wisdom.Therefore, the formation of English idioms will be influenced by different living environments, customs, history, religion and other aspects. So in the translation process is often the most difficult part. English idioms don't only have a literal meaning, because of the influence of culture, often with a story itself, so for a person who does not understand the culture is very difficult to understand. When translating idioms, the author thinks that it is necessary to make a further investigation to understand the relationship between the two. Idioms are widely used in daily life, such as work, study and communication. The translation of English idioms will directly affect the understanding of the work itself. Therefore, in order to translate idioms well, it is necessary to trace its origin and consider its own cultural background and the reasons for its formation. Using certain translation principles and strategies can better help the translation of English idioms. This paper aims to explore how to better use these principles and strategies to translate English idioms so as to provide a better translation method for the translation of English idioms.
