Abstract
English vocabulary is very important in our daily life. The development of modern English, especially modern English vocabulary is very rapid. According to statistics, English is the language with the largest vocabulary in the world. This is mainly related to the development of science and technology and the emergence of emerging disciplines. Changes in the political situation, social life, and world situations all require new words and phrases to fill. Therefore, by summarizing previous studies on English vocabulary and making our own explorations, this article focuses on the development process of English vocabulary in the period around modern English, and explains how English vocabulary has developed into what we are using now through various influence of this form. The purpose is to make readers realize that the development of English vocabulary and the progress of life are inseparable. The development of English vocabulary also marks the continuous progress of our time and the further integration of culture. Through the understanding of the reasons for the development of English vocabulary, learners can have a more thorough understanding of the origin of English words, which is helpful for understanding words and can better master the language of English.
