Abstract
【Abstract】Diet is absolutely necessary in the existence and development in the life of mankind. In the development of human society, the national diet has gradually formed its own unique culture. Dietary culture is an important part of the national culture. With the entrance of the 21st century, cross-cultural communication has become more and more frequent, among which dietary culture has been the most basic content.
However, because of the differences in living environments,customs and value concepts China and the West have formed their own different dietary cultures. Cultural differences between China and America created the differences of food culture. The differences come from the different ways of thinking and philosophy between China and America. As a result, there appears some misunderstandings sometimes between Chinese and the Westerners in their communication.
In order to make out a more scientific study conclusion which has a strong persuasive power,this paper makes a thorough analysis with the contrasting method to the differences of the two different food cultures. And this is carried out in the following five aspects:cooking criteria, cultural characteristics,food objects, eating habits and table manners. From this,I summarize the irrespective characteristics,the good and bad points and the different historical origins as well as finally initiate a dining approach to unify them together.
In the basis of improving our ability of realization,we should enhance the strong points and avoids weaknesses,improving diet structure,advancing the diet quality and ensuring everyone to have healthy diet in their daily life. The study conducted of the differences of food culture in the macroscopic field of cross-cultural communication also can promote the mutual understanding between the people of the East and West. It will promote the mutual understanding and communicating of the two countries, we can also improve culture of China.
