Abstract
The Little Woman is a novel published in 1868 and is the most famous and successful work written by American writer Louisa May Alcott. Based on Louisa May Alcott's childhood experience, the novel describes the life, love and emotional entanglement between the family members of the four sisters who grew up during the American Civil War as clues to describe the harmonious happiness of the Machi family, how they made progress as excellent and mature women, and added romantic color. This paper intends to explore the personality and experience of the four girls in the Machi family from three aspects: the pursuit of love and marriage autonomy, economic independence and self-improvement, equality and freedom, and analyze their female consciousness reflected in the family. This paper holds that Little Women reflects the current situation and development trend of women's consciousness at that time, and the significance of the novel lies in its manifesto that women need to remain independent, equal, mutual respect and take the initiative in their own hands.
