Different meanings of color words in Chinese and English cultures
Abstract
Language and culture are inseparable, it is the carrier of Culture, culture is the most direct and important external form of expression. However, language is an abstract concept, how can we understand the similarities and differences of different cultures through it? This paper compares the semantic meaning and symbolic meaning of the basic colors in English and Chinese, and analyzes the reasons for the differences, so that we can have a better understanding of the cultures of the anglo-american and the Han Nationalities Thus helps people from different cultural backgrounds to communicate better. It is also beneficial to those who are engaged in cross-cultural communication and translation of different languages.
