Report on the Translation of the Real Diana
Abstract: This translation report aims to elaborate on the translation techniques employed in translating The Real Diana. It states the problems I come across and expounds how I solve these problems. This research project consists of two types of literature review. First, I review background information about the British monarch, Tina Brown and Diana’s life. Then, I draw on findings in current translation studies to pinpoint the challenges I confront in the translation process and the strategies I employ. Much controversy has arisen, surrounding the choice of divergent translation approaches, named “foreignizing approach” and “domesticating approach” by Venuti 2004（1995）. Fully aware of the debate, I combine the two approaches in my translation practice and examine gains and losses of the combined approach in my report.

《真实的戴安娜》翻译的分析
摘 要 本文通过对《真实的戴安娜》翻译的分析，介绍文化因素的翻译方法。《真实的戴安娜》载自美国版《读者文摘》，是英国作家蒂娜·布朗2007年出版的畅销书《戴妃纪事》中的节选。本文将重点考察传记文体风格，分析研究《真实的戴安娜》之中大量与文化背景有关的句子，并结合翻译理论介绍文化因素的翻译策略。在翻译过程中，本文借鉴美国翻译理论家劳伦斯·努帝（1995）提出的“归化法”及“异化法”和奈达（1964）的“功能同构”策略，权衡利弊并取其所长运用于《真实的戴安娜》的翻译中。
