The Investigation of College Students’ Motivation for Learning English in Language Training School and Its implications on College English Teaching
Abstract: Since English plays an essential role in the education system in China, many universities put great emphasis upon English education . However, many college students are not interested in College English class. Skipping English class is very common among many college students. While on the other hand, English training schools are often crowded with college students, especially during the vacations. My essay analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of college English class and English training class respectively by means of a questionnaire .By comparing two kinds of English classes we find that the cramming method of teaching, fixed English materials and teaching content are the main reasons for students to skip class. While the flexible time for classes and interesting lessons are the attraction of the English training classes. Finally, some implications on improving college English teaching are discussed in this essay.

大学生参加英语培训课动机调查及其对大学英语教学的启示
摘 要:长期以来,随着英语在我们中国人的生活中扮演着愈来愈举足轻重的角色,大学英语教育也被大部分高校所重视。他们在大学英语教育中投入了许多人力,物力和财力。但事实上大学生缺课、逃课的现象屡见不鲜。而与此形成鲜明对比的是,语言培训学校的各种培训班纷纷爆满,每逢寒暑假更是如此。本文调查和分析和比较了两种英语课程的差别和各自的优缺点。大学英语课中传统的教学方法、理论化的课程、固定的教材和教学内容是导致大学生对英语课不感兴趣的主要原因。相比之下,英语培训课生动有趣的教学内容和灵活的上课时间是吸引大学生的关键所在。英语培训课在教学内容和课程方面的优点对今后的大学英语教学很有借鉴之处。
