摘 要
本文研究的是英汉人名的构成和运用方式、源流与现状及其体现的宗教思想、社会观念和民族特色来发现东西方人名文化内涵的异同点。首先,分层阐述人名文化在社会文化生活中的存在和体现,及在人类生活中占有的重要地位;其次运用文献归纳法对英汉人名的文化内涵相同点进行归纳;再次运用比较分析法对英汉人名文化的不同点进行对比研究,分别表述其在自身、历史、宗教思想、价值观念的不同表现。最后根据英汉人名文化各自的特征,运用信息研究方法,大量收集人名翻译实例来分别说明英语人名汉译和汉语人名英译时所要注意的原则和方法,结合翻译理论和翻译实践对所感兴趣的人名进行试翻译,总结翻译原则和方法。

ABSTRACT
In order to discover the similarities and difference between the Eastern and Western name cultural connotation, this paper researches the composition, exertion, origins and present situation of Chinese and English personal names and what religious thought, social values, and national characters they reflect. First, it elaborates the presence and expression of name culture in social and cultural life, which show the significance of it; second, it sums up the similarities both in Chinese and English name culture by using induction; third, it does the contrastive studies to find the differences between Chinese and English name culture and formulates the different representation in point view of itself, history, religious thought and values; finally, it explains about the principles and methods according to the characteristics of their culture by using information research methods, combining with translation theory and translation practice.
