摘 要
《麦田守望者》是20世纪中期美国著名作家J.D.塞林格的代表作。小说通过描述主人公霍尔顿被学校开除后游荡于纽约街头的三天经历,展现了作者对青少年成长问题的思考,尤其是通过男主人公霍尔顿形象的塑造表现青少年成长过程中的迷茫。本文首先试图对霍尔顿性格的典型方面进行剖析,突出描写霍尔顿的爱评判人、不诚实但又善良、充满好奇心的性格,进而分析霍尔顿复杂性格形成的内外因,以期使读者能更为深刻地了解小说的内涵及其深远影响。

ABSTRACT
The Catcher in the Rye is a masterpiece of J.D. Salinger who is a famous American writer in the middle 20th century. By describing the protagonist Holden’s three-day experiences in New York after being expelled from school, the author reveals his unique view on the growing up of the youth. The novel highlights the character of Holden to express the confusion that teenagers encounter during the process of growing up. This paper first explores the typical points of Holden’s personality; especially on Holden’s judgmental, dishonest while kind and curious character. Then this paper sums up the deep causes of Holden’s character which are affected by internal factors and external factors. From the above analysis, readers might get a deeper understanding of the essence and the profound influence of the novel.
