新闻英语及其翻译

摘要

新闻是最新事实的报道。它在大众传媒中自然扮演着一个很重要的角色，即吸引观众的注意并向之传送正在发生的事件的信息。从语言上说，新闻英语文体属于普通英语，即标准英语的主体层，但是它的词汇、标题和概括性导语又具有特别鲜明的特点，即新颖、生动、紧揍。

   人们使用语言，总有一定的目的，总想产生一定的效果，这就是语言的功能。在翻译的过程中,译者应力求使译语产生与原语相等的效果，具有使之对等的功能。具体说来，新闻英语的功能主要在于传递信息，其次在于吸引读者，即新闻英语的主要功能是信息功能，其次为说服功能。为此，对于其中新颖的词汇、生动的标题和紧凑的概括性导语，必须特别注意如实地再现，才能使译文做到与原文功能对等。

本文是从原语的功能出发，分析原语的三个方面的语言特点是如何实现新闻的信息功能和说服功能的；以功能对等为原则指导翻译，以大量的例子具体分析这三个方面各自的翻译方法和步骤。

Abstract

News as journalism is a genre of publicizing latest events．"it informs us of what is going on in the world at large. In the media it is an important commodity as well as a way of attracting audience keen to be informed of the events taking place in the world in which they live”（Rayner,2001：215)

Roughly speaking, journalistic English or news English belongs to general English, i.e., the main part of Standard English．(cf. Liu Miqing,1998：1）The language used in journalistic English fulfills the informative function and the persuasive function with the former as the primary and the latter as the secondary. These two functions are typically reflected in three aspects: journalistic neologisms, headlines and summary leads. In short, this paper discusses the translation of journalistic English in these three aspects.
