题目(中文) 《献给艾米丽的玫瑰花》中玫瑰花意象的分析
Abstract
A Rose for Emily is the first short story published by William Faulkner in the year of 1930, which reflects the change of Southern society of America in 1930 through Emily’s tragic love story. The paper tries to make an analysis on the image of "rose" from multiple aspects from Emily’s love fate and the social background at that time. The paper also points out that the image of rose reflects Emily’s female consciousness and the author’s attitude towards Southern society of America during that period. At last, the paper concludes that it is readers’ different backgrounds that cause the multiple understandings. As readers’ different backgrounds will affect their acceptance levels to the text, and cause multiple understandings to the image, there is no specific standard. However, through analyzing William Faulkner’s A Rose for Emily, we can have a deeper understanding about the history and culture of American society.
