Abstract
As a constituent part of people’s cultural life, movie directly reflects the culture of a nation. American movie is also one of the important expression methods of American culture on the screen. The cultural concept and pattern of American movie possess a global vision, which determines that American movie enjoys a superior status worldwide compared to movie of other countries. Because of such a diverse and tolerant cultural pattern, American movie tends to further develop worldwide. Starting from the relation between American movie and culture, this thesis analyzes and elaborates the cultural phenomena of American movie, self-centered individualism and heroism, culture of love and family affection, scientific and technological culture, cultural tolerance, and the cultural connotation of American movie and American dream. Also, it analyzes the Chinese elements in American movie culture, such as Chinese martial arts, landscape, diet and costume, Chinese spirit, etc. Finally, it reflects upon the cultural phenomena of American movie.
