Abstract
Translation is a kind of cross - cultural communication and exchange activities. It refers to the meaning of a language to express the meaning of another language to convey the cultural activities.
Nowadays, with the development of globalization, the world’s political, economic and cultural communications are becoming increasingly frequent. Especially China’s entry into WTO and its open-up policy, cross-cultural exchanges are increasingly frequent between this country and others. English as an international language, English Chinese translation plays an important role in our daily life and work. Translation is a bridge of communication between different languages in the process of language communication and the way to eliminate the differences between languages. It is very important to grasp the conversion between the two languages. However, we cannot neglect that there are still some problems in this field in China, and we have less influential Chinese translators in the world. Moreover there are still significant limitations in using the traditional translation theory to guide English translation. Thus, from the functional point of view, we need to combine with some translation instance, from the lexical, syntactic and discourse level analysis system to make the characteristics of English. Meanwhile, according to the characteristics functional theory to give the guidance of English translation, and propose some specific English translation principles, strategies and techniques.
