Abstract
Today, globalization is inviting more and more international tourists to China, which entails the translation of tourism materials.
But the present situation falls short of expectation. Functional translation theory is one emphasizing the functions of translation, which
takes translation as a targeted cross--cultural activity. This thesis makes analysis on the application of functional translation theory on
tourism English, base on the materials for tourism English and the principle of the theory, and brings up some translation skills for this purpose.
