Abstract
Both Chinese and English contain a large number of color words, some of these are consistent in meanings, some of them are quite different with each other. Due to the differences between Chinese and English cultures, the cultural connotations given by Chinese and English to the color words are quite different. From the Contrastive Analysis between Chinese and English Color Terms, and why Chinese and English Color Terms have different meanings, we draw some useful insights to the cultural connotation of color words in Chinese and English and comparative analysis, so as to summarize some translation skills of English and Chinese color words in Chinese and English.
