Abstract
Idioms are of very important part of a language, researches on idioms started only less than one hundred years. Idioms own its specific features which is different from others. They are different in sources, in format, in wholeness of meaning and stable structure. This article employs Yan Fu’s classic translate theory, faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance, discuss different methods may be considered when translating a idiom, i.e., use literal translation or liberal translation, find a corresponding one in target language, or just omit it. And we also try to find out limits of translation of idioms. In writing this article, classic translation theory and semantic analyze, and language logic analyze is used.
