Abstract
With the rapid development of tourism activities, the translation of scenic spot introduction has become more and more important because the unique material culture and spiritual culture of scenic spot can be successfully conveyed to the foreign tourists with the help of the excellent translation of the scenic spot introduction. In this dissertation, the author firstly analyzes and studies the theories of the Skopes theory, focusing on the text typology and translation skopos of functionalist approach. Research of English translation of scenic spot introduction in Chengdu is carried out on the basis of the Skopes theory, then the thesis analyzes some translation methods in the translation of Chengdu scenic spot introductions including omission, liberal translation and transliteration, hoping to provide some references for the translation of scenic spot introductions.
