Abstract

With the gradual deepening of China's opening up, we find more and more Cultural differences between China and Western. Traditional festivals are one of the important differences .Most traditional festivals originated from people’s expectation for harvest in the agricultural production, the worship towards the gods and the nature, sacrifices to the historical characters and etc. Festival Culture is very profound .The festival customs in dissimilar countries are established by usage, with the own distinct nation feature and rich presentation forms and connotation. This paper is designed to introduce Spring Festival & Christmas Day and put emphases on the comparison of Spring Festival & Christmas Day, discuss the Similarity and the differences of the tow festivals as to history (origin), celebration, decoration and food. Chinese are inclined to celebrate western festivals Christmas Day, the article has analyzed the problem deeply and holds the opinion that we should know our own culture better, at last the causes of the differences are explored.
