题 目 On the Translation of Subtitles in "Friends" from the Perspective of Functionalist Translation Theory
Abstract
With the deepening of China's reform and opening up and the continuous strengthening of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, more and more foreign films and TV dramas are entering the domestic film and television market, especially British and American movies and TV dramas. How to successfully translate English movies and TV dramas so that Chinese audiences can enjoy these films very well and understand the differences between Chinese and western values, ways of thinking and ways of life. It has become one of the most important topics in the field of film and television translation in China. Based on the discussion of the characteristics of subtitle translation, this paper points out that the translation of Chinese subtitles in English movies and TV plays should follow the principles of simplicity and comprehensibility, and analyzes the strategies of subtitle translation in English movies and TV plays.
