Abstract:
The Catcher In The Rye,as the only one novel of contemporary writer J.D.Salinger’s, is very popular among the American young people since its publication in 1951.it describes a simple story about Holden’s growth experience from childhood to adulthood. This paper, through the analysis of the family, school and social environment of Holden’s growth and the puzzlements that Holden goes through, his various rebellion, pursuits and the compromise he attains, indicates that Holden’s suffering is caused by the indifferent human relationship in the corrupted American society. In addition, through the analysis and discussion about Holden’s growth journey, the adolescents’ particular psychology can be clearly showed.
