Abstract
“American Dream” transmits the thought of that everyone can have a better life after struggling regardless of social class or circumstance of birth in the United States. According to the movies, “American Dream” encourages people to pursue happiness. Someone succeeds, but someone doesn’t. Actually, some people succeed in both life and career, some people succeed in career but fail in life, and even others fail in both life and career. So realizing “American Dream” not only includes material wealth, but also includes spiritual wealth. With the summary of related movies, people who succeed in both life and career are with correct values and use legal ways to get material wealth. They also have skills and try to get the recognition of others. After they get the chance, they still keep working hard and correct values. On the contrary, people who fail in career or life comprehend the false values “money is all” and achieve the material wealth by illegal ways. Some even cannot understand themselves correctly, and believe in “I am a great person” mistakenly. They also ignore the real things but focus on falsehood without doing anything helpful. Hence, to realize “American Dream” must keep correct values, recognize oneself, learn skills and be diligent. Only based on these, realization of “American Dream” can make sense. “American Dream” has significance for the people who have dreams.
