Abstract
In the new era of people's entertainment, movies are not only an art, but also a form of entertainment. Due to the low threshold and wide range of films, the film has been favored by more and more people.
As one of the important Bridges in the export of Chinese culture, film art occupies an important position in the cultural exchanges of the world. With the rapid development of the film industry, the rise of European and American films, Chinese films and other continuous rise, the Chinese people have become more and more concerned about the film, and the film subtitles are becoming more and more important. in recent years, there have been more and more discussions about the translation of subtitles in English films. Therefore, it is very important to study English subtitle translation.
This paper aims to from the history of subtitle translation, the characteristics and limitations of film subtitle translation and translation of English movie cross-cultural activities and cultural constraints, these three aspects to discuss the cultural factors of English film subtitle translation. I may not be able to find the information in a comprehensive way. I hope that the scholars who see this article can correct me.
