Abstract
Abstract Speech act is one of the most important research fields of pragmatics, and the speech act of request is one of the most involved topics .During cross-cultural communication, there are many failures because of the cultural crashes .In this thesis, we discuss the differences between the requests in both Chinese and English languages and the diversity behind the two dissimilar cultures .In this case, we can convey the distinct cultures among the connotations and intension via this article. We hope the people who are from different backgrounds will not only get to know each other better, but to communicate properly.
