Abstract
Pride and Prejudice is considered the most successful and popular novel written by Jane Austen, being the representative of realistic literature.
Austen’s novel shows the British social reality and marital status of the end of 18th century and the early of 19th century under the circumstance of conservative. This novel described different ways and attitudes to the marriages between Mr. And Mrs.Bennet’ four daughters. It takes young people’s marriage as the thread and it covers the inheritance of forture,women’s social status, and customs.We can take any dialogue from Pride and Prejudice,and we will find it is just like talks in every normal day of that time. Jane put her first-hand observation and experience into this novel, and she made an analysis of human nature.
It is a book makes us to think over social relations.Austen’s attitude is that love and mariage based on money, property and social status is not perfect, and it is also very stupid. Love and marriage are linked together,but not lie on the property and social status, successful marriage are based on mutual attraction and understanding ,so everyone should have a cautious value judgement to his(or her) marriage.
