Abstract
There has been universal existence of malpractice of China's primary school English education for a long time. Some teachers still adopt traditional teaching methods in class, concentrating merely on explanation of text content and language knowledge, thus ignoring the creation of language contexts, which leads to the ineffective mobilization of students’ interest and motivation for learning English. The class performs as a bridge connected to the teaching side of teachers and the learning side of students. Under higher requirements of the New Curriculum Standards, only by a more ingenious and elaborative class designing, can teachers avoid previous conventional class of inefficiency, thus create a highly effective English teaching class so as to ensure the high quality of both teaching and learning.
The thesis initially carries out its research background and current situations of the topic. Based on the characteristics of primary students, it then discusses and analyzes two major categories of methods on improvement of China’s primary school English teaching: the game-playing teaching method and the situational teaching method. In addition, this thesis also gives some recommendations from new perspectives on realization of promoting English teaching efficiency concentrating on the establishment of high-quality English teaching teams as well as teachers’ guidance on students’ learning and memorizing methods
