Abstract
With the rapid development of manufacturing industry in China, the mould industry has become an indispensable basic equipment and is an important guarantee for a country's industrial products to maintain the international competitiveness and sustainable innovation. And thus the Mold English, which is featured with the characteristics of the Business English and science and technology English, also has become a particularly important role for the communication in mold industry. Based on the published thesis and papers in Mold English translation and Nida’s functional equivalence theory, the paper gave a review of the characteristics of the Mold English and the essence of the functional equivalence theory considering the special vocabulary, complex and long sentence and translating strategies. And specifically the translating strategies under the guidance of Nida’s theory such as the domesticating translation are discussed for the translation of Mold English. And the difficulties at lexical level, syntactical level and sentence level are summarized and many specific case analysis are also given to illustrate how to apply the translating strategies based on Nida’s functional equivalence theory to solve the practical problems when translating the Mold English into Chinese.
