Abstract
As a cross-linguistic and cross-cultural activity,translation aims to communicate information.And the basis of this communication lies in the common understanding of cultural backgrounds of the target language as well as the source language.
This paper goes firstly to the study of the features of business English,and secondly to the analysis of some key cross-cultural elements,and at last,by carefully studying some translations of business trademarks,item names and advertisements,the author elaborates how business English translation is influenced by China and the West cultural differences.Therefore,we should not only consider the factors of language itself,but also emphasize the analysis of cultural differences so that we can avoid mis-translating as much as possible and realize the most appropriate translation and the true purpose of communication.
As China stands out as a powerful economy country and is attracting more foreign investments,business English translation gains its importance and attention.To avoid translation mistakes and misunderstandings,people should be aware of the influence of cultural differences between China and the west on business English translation.The translators need to express complete and relevant meanings in source language based on the good understanding of the culture in target language,which will improve the business translation perfectly.
