Abstract
Politeness is a social phenomenon, which is shared by all social groups, but it is a personalized communication strategy. With the different cultural backgrounds of different language groups, the differences between Chinese and Western cultures determine the differences of "face" culture between China and the West. The differences are mainly manifested in concept, content, and value. On the view. We should understand these differences so as to successfully cross cultural communication.The study of the "face" culture in the western and Western countries, comparing the differences between the two, and combining the pragmatic knowledge, so as to know how to choose the pragmatic strategy in the process of cross-cultural communication, so as to maintain their own and other people's face, and enhance the effectiveness of intercultural communication.
