The Archetypal Patterns in the Sound and the Fury
Abstract: This thesis is based on Northrop Frye’s archetype theory of criticism and attempted to analyze Faulkner’s novel-The Sound and the Fury with a focus on mythological and archetypal patterns. It is demonstrated that this novel is not only ironical but also meaningful which reveals Faulkner’s deep and objective exploration into human and society. On one hand, we can see Faulkner sets a standard and reference frame for human and moral judgment in his novel; on the other hand, this novel embodies his creativity in the application of the mode of archetype.

《喧哗与骚动》中的神话原型
摘 要：本文试图以弗莱的原型批评理论为依据，从神话原型的角度来解析福克纳的小说——喧哗与骚动。该小说中大量使用了对人类历史影响深远的神话原型，使其作品不但具有强烈的反讽意味，而且具有特有的价值寓意，揭示了福克纳对人、对社会所进行的深刻客观的探索。一方面，我们能看到福克纳在其小说中设定的一种人性与道德判断的标准与参照,另一方面，该小说也体现了作者对神话原型模式运用的独创性。
