摘    要
本论文针对理工科学院理工科学院非英语专业英语学习的现状进行研究分析,以探究非英语专业大学生具有哪些英语学习动机,以及影响他们英语学习的主要因素,进而总结出非英语专业学生缺乏学习动机的成因,并提出提高非英语专业学生英语学习大家的建议。本论文对130名理工科非英语专业学生进行了英语学习动机的调查问卷,抽样所学专业涉及国际贸易、建筑学、机械、电子、通信和自动化等,从参加调查问卷的学生中随机抽取了18名学生进行访谈,同时,笔者有对3个班级(大班)英语课进行了课堂观察。最后,笔者将这几方面的数据信息进行整理分析,得出以下结论:(1)大多数理工科学生普遍具有较高的外在动机,其内在动机有待提高。(2)动机强度与学习效果不成绝对正比,其它因素会影响学习效果。(3)与动机相关的学习兴趣、学习努力程度等对学习者有很大影响。由此笔者提出了提高英语学习动机的建议,如提高学生内在学习动机、创造舒适有效的学习氛围、提高学生外在学习动机等。

ABSTRACT
This paper examined the motivation of science and technologe schools’ students by investigating 136 undergraduates of non-English majors through a questionnaire, interviewing 18 informants selected randomly among the 130 undergrautes, and conducting a class observation in three English classes.
On the basis of statistics analysis, three conclusions are reached:(1) most non-English majors have higher instrumental motivation and their intrinsic motivation needs to be stimulated. (2) The degrees of motivation and achievement are not always in direct proportion; there are other factors influencing students’ achievement,such as learning strategy. (3) Motivation facters such as interest and effort have great influence on student’ performance.
Based on the research results,the author has put forward some strategies for enhancing the motivation of non-English major students, such as improve students’ Intrinsic Motivation,create comfortable and effective learning atmosphere, improve students’ Extrinsic Motivation and so on.
