摘 要
本文首先结合中外研究成果探讨了语境适应在英语翻译中的重大作用，指出它是语言翻译必须遵循的原则与规律；其次将语境适应论发展情况和基本原则结合电影片名翻译中要考虑的因素，找出适合电影片名翻译的基本方法。然后采取横向分类的方法，即按照电影的种类、性质等进行分类，对搜取到的国际与国内知名电影片名的翻译实例进行分析研究。同时采取纵向分类的方法，即对收集的国内不同地区电影片名翻译实例进行对比分析。最后通过横向、纵向相结合的对比方法得出电影片名翻译的发展状况和经验，以期找出改进翻译质量的途径。

ABSTRACT
This paper explores the significance of contextual adaptation in translation, and points out the importance of film title translation. Mainly from the angle of contextual adaptation, this paper employs the transversal comparison and longitudinal comparison methods to explore Chinese and English film title translation with the aid of rich examples. The paper also cites the film title translation examples to come to the conclusion that translators need to comply with the general principles such as to be faithful to the products, to be simple but creative, complying with the culture of source language.
