A Study of Deixis in Humor
Abstract: Humor is a good flavoring in daily life. To study the mechanisms of humor has profound significance. Pragmatics and humor are closely linked. Deixis is one of the important components of pragmatics. The key to transmit deictic information successfully depends on whether the participants are in the same specific context. Otherwise, deictic information will be come blurred and ambiguous. The paper aims to describe the role deixis plays in the process of humor. The ambiguity of the deictic information is the primary cause of humor in the perspective of deixis. The study is carried out by analyzing the excerpts of an American comedy Friends. It is hoped that the analysis will help to gain a better insight into the mechanisms of humor and its relationship with deixis in a pragmatic perspective.

摘 要 幽默是生活中很好的调味料。因此，研究幽默机制有深远的意义。指示语是语用学的重要组成部分，语用学和幽默具有密切的联系。有效传递指示信息的关键是会话参与者必须处于同一特定的语境。否则指示信息会变得模糊及有歧义。本文旨在研究指示语在幽默产生的过程担任的角色。本文通过分析美国情景喜剧《老友记》当中对话，希望对幽默机制及指示语和幽默机制之间的关系作更深入的了解。
