摘 要
英语新闻时效性强，能为人们带来关于世界的最新资讯。标题是新闻的重要组成部分，它能让人们迅速获取所需的资讯，而大部分人正是通过阅读新闻标题才得以在最短的时间内获取最多的信息。因此，分析新闻标题的内在规律及其特点，就可以帮助读者有效地理解标题的含义，从而达到理解整篇新闻的作用。 本文分为三个部分，第一部分总体介绍了英语新闻标题，包括定义，发展过程和功能；第二部分是最重要的部分，通过举例全面地阐述了英语新闻标题的语言特点，包括词汇特点、修辞特点、语法特点以及标点特点；第三部分对英语新闻标题的语言特征进行了总结。 在新闻中，标题占有举足轻重的地位。文章在上述的分析和讨论的基础上，对英语新闻标题的语言特征进行总结，结合实例，旨在帮助广大英语新闻阅读者更好地理解新闻内容，欣赏其语言艺术美。

ABSTRACT
Journalistic English has played a crucial role today, both in people’s daily life and public affairs. In the composition of news, headline is the part and parcel. Therefore, an excellent headline can attract people and move them. In an effort to present a better understanding of English news headline, this paper introduces the definition, development and functions of English news headline as well as providing a comprehensive expatiation on the features of English news headline from lexical, grammatical, rhetorical devices and punctuation, with a great number of examples. At the last part, the paper summarizes the language features of English news headline. This paper intends to help readers have a better understanding of English news, and at the same time, enjoy the beauty of news language.
