摘 要
本文以中国古代悼亡词英译为主要研究对象,首先从中国古代悼亡词的发展历程及文学特点着手,引导读者了解中国古代两大诗词名家苏轼与纳兰性德的作品;并通过对许渊冲的古诗英译三美论的介绍,指出三美论对诗歌翻译实践尤其是对悼亡词英译的指导意义;文章重点以苏轼与纳兰性德悼亡词英译为例详细阐述了“三美论”(音美,形美,意美)在悼亡词翻译中的运用,得出结论中国古代悼亡词英译既要在词的音律、形式上体现出美,更要传达词中蕴含的独特意境。

ABSTRACT
This paper mainly studies the English translation of classical Chinese elegy. It first introduces the development and literary characteristics of classical Chinese elegy, especially the elegies written by Su Shi and Nalan Xingde, two great poets in ancient China. The Three-beauty Theory is also introduced to prove its guiding significance in poetry translation practice, Chinese elegy translation in particular. With the elaborate case study, the paper focuses on the application of Three-beauty Theory (beauty in sound, beauty in form and beauty in sense) in the translation of SuShi and Nalan Xingde’s elegies, and draws a conclusion that translators should deliver not only the beauty of sound and form in English version, but also the unique sense of Chinese elegy.
